This role is crucial to ensuring our scientific staff have the necessary resources to carry out their roles effectively, efficiently and in keeping with customer demand. The successful candidate will be responsible for the timely and cost effective provision of all materials required to enable the science team to complete client projects, carry out crucial internal research and development, manage and maintain cell line stocks and carry out any other task where consumable availability is a crucial part of our service delivery. A relevant package of training will be provided for the successful candidate to ensure that they perform their role to the required standard. A positive attitude with a good work ethic is essential, reliability is key as is excellent communication skills. This is a demanding role requiring scheduling of deliveries, response to demand for products and the ability to problem solve on a daily basis. The role Collaborate with scientific staff to assess and identify equipment and consumable needs. Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers. Source and negotiate with suppliers to obtain the best value for scientific equipment and consumables. Manage procurement processes, including creating and tracking purchase orders. Create and maintain inventories to allow for the tracking of stock levels. Proactively monitor and manage stock levels to ensure adequate inventory. Ensure that all paperwork relevant to procurement is securely stored and organised. Essential Experience in procurement, preferably in a scientific or technical field. Strong negotiation and communication skills. Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment. Excellent attention to detail and problem solving skills. Strong organisational skills. Experienced in using Microsoft 365. Ability to work as part of a team. Consistent approach to ensure effective delivery of tasks. Desirable Understanding of scientific equipment and consumables.
