My client is one of the largest financial institutions headquartered in Japan, with an established presence across all consumer and corporate banking businesses. Through its subsidiaries and affiliates, they offer a diverse range of financial services, including commercial banking, leasing, securities, credit card, consumer finance and other services. They are looking for a Financial Product Controller to join them at their offices in London, working Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, being office based 2 - 3 days a week, with the remainder of time working from home. Purpose of Job The CM Ltd Equity trading desk is looking to expand its product offering to cover SPB (Synthetic Prime Brokerage) in Oct 2024. Supporting this new business line from a finance and product control perspective they require the design, testing and rollout of new Gloss functionality and a control framework to help ensure full finance control of the business activity in the most optimised and efficient form available. The role will support the Head of Product Control deliver an end to end revenue reporting and balance control solution from subledger to end user reporting from the general ledger. As this is completely new business for CM Ltd, it involves new sub ledger functionality, booking model and technical accounting to be implemented. This hands on role involves the design, testing and implementation all the way through to the successful delivery of the project for finance post go live of the business. Daily duties include: Main finance point of contact for the SPB Project team and front office (attend meetings and provide SME input to queries). Ensure delivery of finance tasks. Design and help implement Trading balance sheet and PL reporting controls. Design finance end to end controls and help test the full end to end accounting for each product involved. Design and test the Finance Gloss accounting UAT tests. Update accounting maps and set up account posting logic in Gloss. Support UAT process of Gloss for new SPB related functionality. Set up the new P&L reporting process and manage the go live, resolving issues before delivery to the line controllers. Adhoc reporting requests to Senior management and Front Office. Support some aspects of current BAU process for existing products to learn current state process, offering support and to design for streamlined integration of the new SPB business. Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications Qualified Accountant. Solid product control experience with extensive hands on product accounting. Detailed knowledge of Vanilla Securities products and their accounting Equities, FX, Derivatives, Swaps. Technical accounting problem-solving skills. Strong hands on FX accounting skillset. Data Analysis and Excel-based data manipulation i.e. large trade-based datasets, pivot tables, etc. Testing/UAT participation from subledger / accounting rules engines / GL migrations. Prior experience in Securities industry within Finance and / or Product Control. Basic Securities valuations experience. Reconciliations, break investigation and general problem-solving. Stakeholder communication. Systems: Gloss settlement and subledger system, Oracle Cloud, Excel. Candidates must show evidence of the above in their CV to be considered.
