This role offers a unique opportunity to lead impactful digital products that directly support public safety and resilience through advanced flood forecasting services. The position is primarily remote, with occasional travel to Exeter, and comes with a 3-month rolling contract at £409 per day inside IR35.
About the Role
As the Product Manager for Flooding Products, you will play a crucial role in shaping and delivering digital solutions that align with the strategic priorities of the Flood Forecasting Centre (FFC). In this role, you will develop a clear product vision, manage the product roadmap, and balance product delivery with user needs. You'll lead an Agile team, championing best practices in line with Government Digital Service (GDS) standards and making data-driven decisions to support effective public service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Define and communicate a product vision for flood forecasting tools, ensuring alignment with FFC's goals and user needs.
Oversee the product lifecycle from discovery to live stages, managing dependencies and maintaining a focus on value delivery.
Lead an Agile delivery team, translating high-level requirements into actionable tasks and ensuring the team meets project milestones.
Collaborate closely with stakeholders across the Civil Service, ensuring that digital products meet GDS standards.
Leverage data insights to inform product decisions, manage project costs, and drive continuous improvement.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
Essential experience in Government or public sector environments, with a clear understanding of Civil Service processes and priorities.
Strong expertise in Agile methodologies and a solid grasp of Government Digital Service (GDS) standards.
A user-focused approach, with experience conducting user research and translating insights into actionable strategies.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
SC Clearance (active or lapsed) is desirable but not mandatory.
