Job Description
Programme Manager Role Overview
Role:
Programme Manager (Senior Leadership)
Reporting to:
Programme Director (with deputising responsibilities)
Locations:
Glasgow, Abbeywood, MoD Main Building (frequent travel)
Responsibilities:
Leadership:
Manage and lead delivery agencies and team members.
Provide direction, advice, and coaching on programme management.
Lead by example, driving results and promoting the right culture.
Foster collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
Ensure performance management and promote Diversity and Inclusion.
Develop team capabilities with robust development plans.
Ensure compliance with mandatory training and CPD.
Inspire and engage teams across HMNB Clyde and related entities.
Support and deputise for the Programme Director.
Recruit and line manage staff.
Programme Management:
Monitor programme progress, clarify objectives, and integrate activities.
Resolve issues and improve delivery performance.
Report on programme performance (time, cost, quality, safety).
Contribute to approvals, budget planning, and financial cycles.
Provide strategic advice and support to the Programme Director.
Ensure effective use of programme management tools and techniques.
Develop and critique business cases and benefit realisation plans.

Qualifications:
Essential:
HNC or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
Knowledge:
Understanding of design intent for electrical infrastructure in High hazard industries, preferably nuclear.

Experience:

Leading large or complex infrastructure and capability delivery programmes.
Delivering within structured environments with innovative solutions.
Leading virtual teams across functional, organizational, or geographic boundaries.
Managing stakeholders in complex environments.
Degree in relevant discipline (e.g., Engineering, Project Management) or significant experience.
Charter level professional or equivalent.
Relevant Project and Programme Management qualifications.
Desirable:

Experience in regulated environments.

Knowledge of the defence or security sector.
Commitment to learning and using established project management methodologies.
