Job Title Mechanical Project Engineer
Location: Total Barrow in Furness
Reporting to Report To: Projects Director
The Job:
Our client is a manufacturing and engineering company specialising in process equipment packages. Within this facility they have core skills allowing them to manufacture and test a wide range of equipment. They specialise in pipe welding and mechanical fitting in the following areas:
Nuclear Industry
Naval Defence Industry
Skid Package Manufacture
Utility Sector
To effectively and efficiently manage the delivery of all allocated projects to time, cost and quality. To drive the design, development, and delivery of our projects from concept, through full production and onto final sign off and delivery. Ensure that all project tasks are carried out in accordance with health and safety regulations and within our customer regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct and assess all aspects of the project delivery from order receipt to completion.
Facilitate the collaboration of engineers, designers, and production teams to work to gather to develop and produce the project.
To understand technical information and quality documentation in response to customer requirements
To be familiar with programme plans always looking ahead to co-ordinate engineering documentations as well as workshop activities in conjunction with production manager
Manage all project phases and address concerns, if any, from all stakeholders.
Manage and control budget costs ensuring profit margin is maintained.
Provide leadership and set the tone for the execution of the project.
Provide the client with transparency throughout the project and implement EWNs and CEs where necessary.
Set-up and manage daily calls with customers ensuring a strong relationship is withheld.
Provide daily/weekly/monthly reporting summary to necessary stakeholders.
Supports clients to navigate their technical and commercial assurance requirements.
Visit sites to verify project progress and gather stakeholder/customer feedback. Escalate any concerns.
Obtain all documentation from customers and validate.
Work closely with the production and quality department to accurately plan the weekly/monthly workload to achieve project schedule.
To collaborate with all departments and ensure a strong client relationship can be maintained
To monitor labour utilisation and provide reports to support cost recovery for delays.
Lead by example on all matters related to HSE.
You may be required to perform additional tasks and responsibilities in line with the needs of the business
Scope:
Participate in meetings and influence decisions where appropriate.
Collaborate with Supply Chain to maximise the value opportunity.
Identify any gaps in contract clauses specifically related to the delivery and execution of the project.
Motivate and lead the team members effectively ensuring that people are SQEP, have a clear understanding of what is required, have the relevant documentation in place to follow
Co-ordinate between various departments such as Quality, Production & engineering to ensure right first time and on time delivery of works
To actively support colleagues and contribute to a team atmosphere ensuring that business objectives are met
To ensure Data Security and Confidentiality is always maintained.

Essential Experience, Skills & Qualifications:
An ability to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking on a range of technical problems.
Ability to work effectively in a team
Must be able to interpret mechanical drawings and work instructions.
Have commercial awareness including knowledge of NEC3 Engineering and Construction Contracts, be able to prioritise workshop loading, manage labour and be a proficient user of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
Proficiency in tools: Microsoft Project and Microsoft Excel
Desirable Experience, Skills & Qualifications:
Degree level qualification in Engineering or similar
A project management qualifications such as Prince 2 , APM or PMI.
A formal engineering qualification minimum level HND / HNC.
Working experience in Industrial, Mechanical, Process Engineering or equivalent
Awareness of industry-specific regulations, codes, and standards
