Project Engineer - Water Projects

Location: Manchester

Salary: £55,000 + car allowance + excellent benefits 

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our Northern Region team, managing multi-disciplinary projects within the water sector (United Utilities/Severn Trent Water). You will oversee key phases of project delivery, from concept development to handover, with a portfolio of projects ranging from £1m to £30m.

Key Responsibilities:

ECI Phase:


  • Attend site and client meetings.
  • Coordinate design activities, feasibility studies, and value engineering.
  • Support ITT documentation and estimation processes.

Detailed Design Phase:


  • Manage multidisciplinary supply chain teams and designers.
  • Oversee draft drawings, document control, and attend design meetings.

Construction Phase:


  • Transition from design to delivery phase.
  • Coordinate technical queries and procurement schedules.
  • Support H&S file preparation and commissioning plans.

Handover and Commissioning:


  • Ensure smooth project handover with complete documentation.
  • Support post-project reviews.

Key Relationships:


  • Internal teams: Regional Managers, Project Managers, MEICA Managers.
  • External: Supply Chain Partners, Clients, and Stakeholders.

Requirements:

Essential:


  • Background in Civil Engineering, with experience in water sector projects.
  • Knowledge of CDM regulations, contract management, and programme planning (Primavera P6 or equivalent).
  • Proficiency in Office 365 and document control platforms (e.g., SharePoint).
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Relevant qualifications: Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering, CSCS Manager's Card, SSSTS/SMSTS.

Desirable:


  • MEICA experience and CAD software proficiency.
