About the Opportunity:
We are recruiting for experienced Project Engineers to join our Nuclear Power Engineering and Technical Services team supporting our key client, across their nuclear fleet in the UK.
This is a key role within the project and engineering portfolio, which spans our UK network of sites and stations. You will be mentored by experienced professionals and given the training and opportunities needed to develop your project engineering management and leadership skills, preparing you for larger and more complex projects.
As part of a large client-led team at a Nuclear Power Station, you will report directly to the Project Manager, Programme Manager, and/or Construction Manager. Flexible working arrangements, including hybrid, part-time, and flexible hours, are available, but the role will predominantly be based at the Power Station.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce and maintain engineering documentation, including quality plans and technical specifications.
  • Manage technical queries in accordance with relevant processes and procedures.
  • Support the contractor selection and contract placement process.
  • Conduct technical reviews of contractor documents and drawings; perform technical appraisals of project options.
  • Perform feasibility studies, site surveys, and liaise with designers and station engineering staff as required.
  • Prepare Engineering Changes and manage the preparation of supporting and affected documents.
  • Develop commissioning documents and act as the test team leader where appropriate.
  • Support the Project Manager and Construction Manager in managing the project and ensure the work is carried out in a safe, timely, and effective manner to its conclusion.

Qualifications:

  • Typically a Chartered Engineer or HND in an engineering discipline.
  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) qualification.
  • A formal project management qualification and familiarity with modern project management techniques are preferred but not essential.
  • Experience in identifying, implementing, and complying with applicable safety, environmental, and quality standards, as well as relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge and experience of delivering construction projects under CDM (Construction (Design and Management) regulations).
  • Ideally, experience in managing and delivering electrical power systems design and installation projects, with prior experience in working with the national grid and/or electrical supply and distribution systems.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Experience working at Power Stations and Nuclear Licensed Sites is preferred but not essential. A proven track record of working within highly regulated environments with high safety standards is essential.

Benefits:
In addition to the standard benefits, UK employees receive:

  • Free single medical cover and digital GP service.
  • Family-friendly benefits, such as enhanced parental leave pay.
  • Free membership of employee assistance and parental programmes.
  • Reimbursement towards relevant professional development and memberships.
  • Participation in the Collectively program, which includes matched funding, paid volunteering time, and charitable donations.

We place a strong emphasis on work-life balance and flexibility, offering the opportunity to discuss hybrid, part-time, and flexible working hours, patterns, and locations to suit both you and the business.
