Our legal client in Bristol has a permanent Property and Casualty Claims Handler vacancy to join their friendly team!
The Property & Casualty (P&C) team is part of the firm's insurance group and has a well-established client base. The team handles a broad range of claims arising from property damage, including fire, water, subsidence, construction, and impact damage.
The role will suit someone experienced with litigation and is similar to a paralegal / litigation executive role.
This is a full-time role working Monday - Friday 09.30 - 5.30 pm. Hybrid working is available, working approx. 3 days in the office.

The Role
We are seeking a Claims Handler to join the dynamic and growing Property and Casualty team in Bristol. The role involves managing a caseload of subrogated recovery matters for various insurers.
You will be responsible for handling property recovery claims from the initial instruction through to pre-action and, if necessary, litigation. Familiarity with the Civil Procedure Rules is essential.
The work is diverse and challenging, offering the chance to work on cases ranging from �10,000 to millions of pounds. As you demonstrate success, you will be given autonomy in managing your files. Opportunities for business development and client engagement will also arise.
Responsibilities
- Manage a large caseload of property insurance claims.
- Deliver high-quality, timely service to clients in line with agreed practices and service level agreements.
- Collate and provide required management information for clients.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of team processes and procedures.
Skills and Experience
- Experience in claims handling and managing a caseload.
- Litigation experience and familiarity with Civil Procedure Rules are required. Insurance experience is desirable but not essential.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to build internal relationships and deliver excellent client service.
- Commercial, proactive approach, with strong time management.
- Good knowledge of legal procedures and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a supportive and inclusive environment.
