Prototype Engineer

A talented Prototype Engineer is required to join a very innovative Research and Development team within one of Exeter's best manufacturing facilities. You will take responsibility for producing prototypes within a dedicated R&D environment, creating machined components, production jigs and assembly fixtures. The ideal candidate must have an aptitude for precision engineering gained in a similar engineering and manufacturing environment.
Job Responsibilities:�

• You will be producing prototypes for manufacture in both sheet metal and thicker gauge materials, so you will be using both turning centres and milling machines.�
• Some welding maybe required also.
• Reading and interpreting component and assembly technical drawings to produce prototypes within the tolerances will be required.
• Producing jigs and fixtures to aid the assembly of products in the manufacturing process.
• Work with the engineering team to produce jigs and fixtures to aid the assembly of products in the manufacturing process ensuring they are fit for function.

Preferred Skills:�

• Proven background in the production of prototypes manufactured in both sheet metal and thicker gauge materials.
• Proven background in the production of prototypes manufactured in both sheet metal and thicker gauge materials.
• Proven ability in precision component machining utilising both turning centres and milling machines. Previous experience in other machinery such as surface grinders whilst not essential, would be an advantage.
• Operating jigs and fixtures.

Working Hours: 8.00am to 5.30pm Mon-Thurs, 8am-3pm F
