SEMH School located in the London Borough of Hillingdon is seeking a dedicated and experienced PSHE & English Teacher (MPS or UPS) on a temp to perm basis. This is an ongoing Monday to Friday post to start in April 2025.
You will have Qualified Teacher Status.
You are an English Teacher / PSHE Teacher will be responsible for delivering fun and engaging English and PSHE for Key Stages 3 and 4.lessons to students who have been diagnosed with SEMH, Autism and behavioural difficulties. Class sizes are small, typically up to 7 children per class, each with a minimum of 3 1:1 Behaviour Support staff.
This is an outstanding SEMH School with s supportive and successful Senior Leadership Team and welcoming staff.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
- You are either an MPS or UPS English Teacher or PSHE Teacher or SEMH Teacher who can cover English and PSHE
- Experience teaching at a either an SEMH School or PRU or Alternative Provision
- Proven experience teaching English and PSHE to KS3 and KS4 students.
- Experience working in a SEND setting, particularly with students with SEMH, autism, and behavioural challenges.
- Strong understanding of the national curriculum and effective teaching and learning strategies.
- You live in easily commutable / travel distance to the London Borough of Hillingdon.
- You have an Enhanced DBS or able to put a new one on process ASAP.
- Can differentiate between your students and de-escalate any challenging behaviours in a non-judgemental way.
- Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with educational best practices.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective lessons in English and PSHE tailored to the needs of students with SEMH, autism, and other SEND.
- Develop and implement individualised learning plans to support the diverse needs of students.
