Public Address Voice Alarm (PAVA) Maintenance Engineer – Fire & Security Industry
We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Public Address Voice Alarm (PAVA) Maintenance Engineer to join a leading Fire & Security company. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of PAVA systems across various sites. This role requires a proactive approach to ensure the systems are functioning optimally, compliant with safety standards, and able to deliver clear and effective communication during emergencies.
Key Responsibilities:

• \nMaintenance & Repairs: Conduct routine maintenance, testing, and repairs on PAVA systems to ensure they operate efficiently.
\n
• \nSystem Installation & Upgrades: Install and upgrade PAVA systems, including speakers, amplifiers, microphones, control panels, and related components.
\n
• \nTroubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues with PAVA systems both on-site and remotely, minimizing downtime.
\n
• \nCompliance & Safety: Ensure that all systems comply with relevant health and safety regulations, including fire and evacuation requirements.
\n
• \nSystem Testing: Regularly test systems for correct operation, including sound quality, audio output, and integration with fire alarm systems.
\n
• \nDocumentation: Keep accurate service records, including test logs, maintenance schedules, and repair histories. Prepare reports for management and clients.
\n
• \nCustomer Support: Provide technical support to clients, ensuring satisfaction with system performance and offering recommendations for improvements.
\n
• \nTraining & Guidance: Assist in training staff or clients on the correct operation of PAVA systems and safety procedures.
\n
• \nEmergency Response: Be available for urgent service requests to ensure public safety communication remains intact.
\n

Requirements:

\n
• \nExperience: Proven experience in the maintenance, installation, and repair of PAVA or similar sound systems (e.g., fire alarm systems, PA systems).
\n
• \nTechnical Skills: Strong knowledge of electrical systems, audio equipment, and related software tools used in PAVA systems.
\n
• \nCertifications: Relevant qualifications in electrical engineering, sound engineering, or similar fields (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent).
\n
• \nProblem Solving: Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to troubleshooting.
\n
• \nCommunication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues.
\n
• \nAttention to Detail: High attention to detail to ensure systems meet safety standards and regulatory requirements.
\n
• \nHealth & Safety Knowledge: Familiarity with health and safety standards related to electrical systems and public address systems.
\n
• \nAvailability: Flexibility to work weekends and on-call hours for emergency maintenance.
\n

Preferred Skills:

\n
• Experience with digital audio systems and IP-based communication technologies.
\n
• Knowledge of fire safety regulations and experience in fire alarm integration.
\n
• Ability to perform remote diagnostics and provide client support via phone or email.
\n
