About the Role:
Reporting directly to the Purchasing Director, the Purchasing Analyst / Procurement Analyst will analyse supplier activity, purchasing trends, stock performance, and margin data to support smarter buying decisions. You'll play a vital role in reducing costs, improving inventory efficiency, and helping maintain high availability of core product lines.
Key Responsibilities:
* Analyse supplier performance, including pricing, reliability, and volume metrics.
* Identify trends in market pricing and advise on bulk buying opportunities or savings.
* Monitor inventory movement and highlight slow-moving or overstocked items.
* Forecast demand using historical sales and purchasing data.
* Generate regular reports offering actionable insights to enhance decision-making.
* Maintain and develop Supplier Score Cards to assess vendor value and performance.
* Support the wider purchasing strategy to boost gross margin and purchasing efficiency.
Performance Objectives:
* Reduce aged stock by 20-30% in the first 12 months.
* Achieve a 70-day average inventory turnover annually.
* Maintain 95%+ stock availability for core SKUs.
* Deliver 5-8% in annual purchasing cost reductions.
* Contribute to year-on-year gross margin improvement of 3-5%.
* Provide weekly reporting with 3-5 key, actionable insights.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
* Degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, or a related discipline.
* Proven experience in a similar role (e.g. purchasing analyst, procurement analyst, or supply chain analyst).
* Strong analytical skills with a commercial mindset.
* Advanced Excel capabilities (pivot tables, dashboards, formulas, etc.).
* Comfortable using ERP systems (e.g. SAGE) and BI tools like Power BI or Tableau.
* Ability to translate complex data into clear, practical recommendations.
* A team player with great communication skills and high attention to detail.
