Cranleigh STEM is working exclusively with a leading chemical brand that is recruiting a Purchasing Manager to join its Dorset-based team on a permanent basis. This is a vital role as part of the Senior Operations team, where you will take sole responsibility for all purchasing activity across the business.

The ideal candidate will have a diverse background as a procurement leader/manager, driving strategic initiatives and optimising processes. You will have expert-level knowledge in supplier management and excellent communication skills - with the ability to engage/inspire internal and external stakeholders.

Purchasing Manager responsibilities

Team Development and Leadership:

  • Assess the procurement needs of the business and lead the team accordingly to ensure the correct resources are in place to support the business growth strategy.
  • Lead and mentor to deliver a collaborative and high-performing team.

Drive Performance Excellence

  • Introduce KPI measures that track procurement performance.

New Product Initiatives and Development:

  • Provide procurement expertise in supporting the product design and development team to bring new initiatives to market in a cost-effective, quality and timely manner. Innovation and new product development are key elements of the business's growth strategy.

Supplier Sourcing

  • Develop and implement a global sourcing strategy aligned to the business growth plans, focused on cost-effectiveness and supply chain efficiency.
  • Develop and implement plans that mitigate the risk of single-source supply.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work cross functionally to provide procurement support to meet the business needs in areas such as technical compliance, product costing and physical distribution.

Purchasing Manager responsibilities

  • A proven procurement leader with a passion for driving strategic initiatives and optimizing processes.
  • An expert in supplier management and strategic sourcing of a diverse range of raw materials, components, finished goods and contracted services on a global basis.
