I am seeking a Purchasing Specialist (Aircraft Spares) for a permanent opportunity near Gatwick Airport.
** Please note that relevant experience in the aircraft spares industry
is ESSENTIAL to be considered for this role. **
Role: Purchasing Specialist (Aircraft Spares)
Location: Near Gatwick, West Sussex
Salary: �32,000- �35,000
Hours: Monday - Friday. 08:30 - 17:00
The main purpose of the Purchasing Specialist (Aircraft Spares) is to build strong relationships with the company's suppliers to help ensure the business is receiving the best overall prices available through negotiation and the overall optimisation of procurement.
The post holder will also work closely with internal customers to ensure their targets for the procurement of components are met.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop a strong relationship with all suppliers and ensure that the business gets the best possible price and terms (such as warranty).
  • Obtain quotes for components from multiple suppliers to determine if the business is receiving the best possible price.
  • Solicit bids, analyse quotes, and recommend to Management who is the best overall vendor, looking at price, reputation, reciprocal business, etc.
  • Co-ordinate with various departments to ensure their purchase requirements are added to the database.
  • Conduct procurement activity to deadlines provided.
  • Co-ordinate with the various departments to collate purchasing spend to ensure the business benefits from potential financial savings.
  • Ensure prior to purchase that all parts meet quality requirements.
  • Obtain warranty return approvals and liaise with internal departments on rejected units.
  • Arrange supplier meetings including occasional travel to supplier sites targeting poor performing suppliers.
  • Monitor improvement measures with non-performing suppliers.
  • Understand and adhere to Export Control regulations where relevant.
  • Expedite and monitor materials shipments from freight forwarders and suppliers to ensure prompt delivery.
  • Develop positive and strong supplier, customer, and internal relationships, seek to improve working methods and communications.


Ideal candidate profile:

  • Previous experience in a similar role within the aviation industry.
  • Ability to organise and manage multiple priorities and effectively deal operate within tight deadlines and pressure.
  • Advanced computer proficiency including Word/Excel/Outlook. Must be able to quickly learn internal systems and processes.
