This specialist manufacturer in Bristol has an opportunity for a qhse manager or quality health and safety manager to join the team in a permanent role. You will be is responsible for ensuring compliance with quality standards, health, safety, and environmental within the organisation. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining QHSE policies and procedures to promote a safe and healthy working environment, minimise environmental impact, and ensure product and service quality. This position would report into the operations manager.

Key Responsibilities qhse manager or quality health and safety manager:

  • Ensure the development, implementation and maintenance of SHEQ policies, procedures, and programs in coordination with department managers.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Lead and manage SHEQ audit programmes and inspections, internally and externally.
  • Be the appointed contact for all SHEQ matters and external auditing processes (ISO9001) to maintain required SHEQ 3rd party accreditations.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and external stakeholders.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents and non-conformances with relevant departmental support and ensure corrective and preventative actions are implemented.
  • Develop risk assessment processes and templates for Service provision.
  • Monitor and report on SHEQ performance and metrics.
  • Provide training and support to employees on SHEQ matters.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement in SHEQ practices.

Suitable skills and Qualification for the qhse manager or quality health and safety managers:

  • An Engineering or Technical qualification is desirable due to the nature of the manufactured products and quality standards
  • Professional certification in QHSE management related subject matter (e.g. ISO 9001, NEBOSH, IOSH).
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in a QHSE management role.
  • Strong knowledge of QSHE legislation and standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead and influence others.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in QHSE management software and tools.
  • Any knowledge of Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) steam or ATEX knowledge would be of interest but not essential for the role
  • Clean drivers licence for occasional travel for business
