Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a professional social work service to children in need and their families, adhering to the principles of the Children Act.
  • Conduct inquiries and assessments for children at risk of significant harm, and take appropriate legal action to safeguard them.
  • Collaborate with service users in various settings, ensuring effective social work practice.
  • Prepare high-standard written reports for various settings, including court proceedings.
  • Represent the Local Authority in court, providing verbal and written evidence as required.
  • Maintain client records in compliance with statutory and departmental requirements.
  • Participate in child protection conferences, statutory reviews, and other relevant meetings.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of plans for children in need.
  • Work effectively within a professional and family network to support children and their families.
  • Uphold departmental, council, and government policies and procedures.
  • Participate in supervision and act in accordance with supervision plans.
  • Advocate for clients with other local authority departments and external agencies.
  • Engage in a social work duty rota and be responsible for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Requirements:

  • Registration: Social Work England registered.
  • Qualifications: Social Work Degree or equivalent.
  • Clearance: Enhanced DBS check.
  • Experience: Proven experience in children's social work.
