Quality Engineer

Our client, a manufacturing business in West Yorkshire, seek to appoint a quality engineer to join their expanding team. Using a variety of materials and processes the successful quality engineer will come from a tier 1 or tier 2 manufacturer supplying into aerospace, automotive, electronics, power or telecommunications. A good working knowledge of both high volume batch production and bespoke short term runs would be ideal although one of the two would be adequate. Production line experience in glass, automotive, plastics, chemicals, machining, electronics or similar would be beneficial. 

With progression available to the position of quality manager and an excellent working environment the appointed quality engineer will have a good working knowledge of ISO9001, be comfortable on the shop floor working with and mentoring operators, and be able to communicate effectively with clients through face to face meetings.
Quality Engineer Responsibilities:
 - Ownership of the ISO9001 quality system
 - Customer facing experience for site visits and audits
 - Experience with NCR

- Enthusiastic hands-on approach
 - Exceptional attention to detail and communication skills
 - Point of contact on site for planning and improvements: kaizen, 5S, APQP, lean, CI / Continuous Improvement, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, etc
Quality Engineer Skills and Experience
 - Minimum two years experience with ISO9001
 - Knowledge of ISO14001, ISO18001, TS16949 or AS9100 would be beneficial
 - Experience working for a production line manufacturer in plastics, automotive, chemicals, glass, machining, electronics, etc
 - Demonstrable proof of working with shop floor operatives to improve manufacturing processes, increase yield, reduce defects/scrap, etc
 - Previous experience of being the quality representative in front of a client in a sales or progress meeting
 - Exposure to a culture of continuous improvement. Some knowledge of kaizen, 5S, APQP, lean, CI / Continuous Improvement, PPAP, FMEA, SPC etc
