Job Title: Quality Lead – Special Processes (Software)


Location: Barrow-in-Furness (with UK wide travel). We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

What you’ll be doing:



  • Leading, coaching and enhancing the capability of team members, including direct reporting as required

  • Taking responsibility for the establishment, maintenance and execution of 1 or more special process domains, including: Process confirmation activities both internally and externally, representing BAE at internal special process forums, collaborating with other special process SMEs both internally and externally to achieve set goals

  • Drives the business zero defects and Cost of Non-Quality initiatives

  • Ensuring that high quality records are produced as an output of the production processes and inspections


Your skills and experiences:


Essential:



  • HND/ equivalent qualification or experience within Engineering/Manufacturing

  • Understanding of Software: AQAP 2210, Ticket, Ticket +, CMMI

  • A good working knowledge of Lean manufacturing/Six Sigma/ First Article Inspection Reporting (FAIR)

  • Previous experience leading and managing others

  • Previous experience in a Supplier Assurance Quality role

The Special Processes team:


As a member of the Special Processes team, you will collaborate closely with stakeholders, including vendors, suppliers, SQA sections, the projects team, the supply chain, and engineering. You will be required to use a company car frequently, with opportunities for overtime and additional training or qualifications such as PCN, NACE, ICORR, and others. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
