Quality Team Leader
Location:
RG30 3RR, located between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking.

Package: Starting from £40,000 (depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience)

Let us introduce the role

AWE is currently recruiting for a Quality Team Leader to Support Quality service delivery through expert guidance and appropriate allocation of inspection resource. To provide and manage local Quality resource and expertise to support numerous internal or external stakeholders of within their specific area. Work as part of a cross functional team to deliver improvement through collaboration.

They will be the technical point of contact for all inspection related activities, provide support to the team through their own experience and support manufacturing in achieving KPIs and improvement opportunities.

  • Ability to work with problem solving tools with particular focus on root cause analysis

We do need you to have the following:

  • Allocation of resource to inspect and certify products, process, services, and trials.
  • Management of Route-cards, non-conformities, concessions, and work permits.
  • Maintenance and enhancement of team skills, knowledge, and capabilities to ensure the appropriate skill level and capability.
  • Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security, and quality and be a great team player.
  • Contribute subject matter expertise in the fields pertinent to their role.
  • Support delivery of technical assessments using appropriate methodologies.
  • Contribute to the development and validation of Quality methodologies.
  • Participation in experimental trials improvement activities and audits, where appropriate.
  • Engagement with relevant AWE stakeholders and our international partners.
  • The Company may require you to fulfil any other reasonable duties aligned to your position from time to time in line with business needs.
  • Lead a small team in all Quality related activities and ensure staff are adequately trained and practised in the task.

Whilst not to be considered a tick list, we'd like you to have experience in some of the following:

  • Working knowledge of Quality Management Systems and related standards i.e. Health & Safety, Environment, Security
  • Experience working within a technical environment.
  • Experienced in report writing and delivery to cross functional teams
  • Experience in engaging with internal/external stakeholders
  • Experience of improvement tools i.e. Lean or Sig sigma
  • Experience with inspection software, ideally PC-DMIS
  • Strong knowledge on GD&T through BS 8888

You'll need to have the ability to work calmly and constructively in a priority changing environment and be able to manage your own workload. You will also have initiative, enthusiasm, a flexible approach, and ability to work to tight deadlines.

Important things you need to know:

  • You will need to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role. This will be funded by AWE. The nature of our work does mean you need to be a British Citizen who has been resident in the UK for the past 5 years in order to apply for SC clearance and 10 years for DV.

Due to the classified nature of the work involved, there are limited opportunities to work from home in this role. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will spend the majority of their time working on site at AWE Burghfield.
