Job Title: Quantity Surveyor - Civil and Bridge Projects
Location: Birmingham/Coventry
Salary: �55,000 - �60,000 per annum


Our client, operating in the Tier 2 sector, is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in civil and bridge projects to join their dynamic team based in the Birmingham/Coventry area. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to work on high-profile infrastructure projects and contribute to the successful delivery of construction activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cost Management: Manage and control project costs to ensure completion within budget. Prepare, validate, and monitor project budgets, forecasts, and valuations.
  • Measurement & Valuation: Conduct accurate measurement and valuation of works, both on-site and from drawings, including preparation of interim valuations, claims, and final accounts.
  • Contract Management: Provide contractual advice and manage contracts, including NEC3/4, JCT, or other forms of contract commonly used in civil engineering.
  • Procurement & Supply Chain: Manage procurement activities, negotiate with subcontractors, and ensure value for money in supply chain management.
  • Change Control & Risk Management: Assess and manage changes and variations to the contract, ensuring robust change control procedures are in place. Identify, mitigate, and manage project risks.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with clients, project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to maintain positive working relationships and project delivery efficiency.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Prepare project progress reports, maintain accurate records, and ensure timely reporting to senior management.
Job Requirements:
  • Educational Background: Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: Experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with demonstrable experience in civil engineering and bridge projects.
  • Contractual Knowledge: Strong knowledge and practical experience with construction contracts such as NEC3/4, JCT, or FIDIC.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in cost management software and MS Office Suite. Strong analytical, measurement, and valuation skills.
  • Location Flexibility: Ability to work on-site and travel between Birmingham and Coventry as required.
  • Communication & Teamwork: Excellent communication skills, with a proactive and collaborative approach to project management.
