The role





This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, ambitious Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Newcastle upon Tyne on a permanent basis.





As a Quantity Surveyor, you’ll want to operate independently in your project role, taking ownership of contractual elements allocated to you.





The successful candidate will work on a variety of construction projects, providing cost control advice to design teams and clients, assuring informed decisions can be supported by accurate data. Typical projects valuations are from £1M - £80M.





This role is well suited to an individual who is excited by the prospect of growing this offering within the business. This position will allow and support the candidate to develop themselves, whilst developing cost consultancy services, with the prospect of shareholding opportunities to follow.





Key roles and responsibilities:






  • Provide timely advice to clients and project teams

  • Preparation and analysis of budgets and cost plans

  • Cost Management



Prepare, validate and agree interim valuations and final accounts



Prepare monthly reports



Complete savings reports for internal records




  • Risk Management

  • Estimating

  • Contract Change Control

  • Attending / leading Contract meetings

  • Working with the SLT to grow this element of the business







About you






  • Qualified as a Quantity Surveyor with 5 years post-grad experience

  • Ability to work on initiative with minimal supervision

  • Good knowledge of construction contracts particularly JCT Form of Contract

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships quickly with colleagues and clients.
