Quantity Surveyor / Estimator (M&E)



Birmingham

Are you a qualified M&E Quantity Surveyor / Estimator looking for a diverse and interactive role with a small, dynamic subcontracting business? We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented individual to join our team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Operations Manager and construction teams to ensure successful project delivery from the start.



Key Responsibilities:





  • Applications and Valuations: Prepare and submit accurate payment applications, ensuring timely and precise valuations are agreed with clients and main contractors.




  • Collaboration with Operations and Construction Teams: Work alongside the Operations Manager and construction teams at the start of each project to ensure smooth financial planning, resource allocation, and cost control from day one.




  • Estimating Support: Assist with estimating for new and ongoing projects to ensure competitiveness and accurate budget forecasting.




  • Cost Management: Monitor project costs throughout the lifecycle, ensuring that the project remains within budget and identifying potential savings or risks.




  • Contractual Advice: Provide advice on contracts, procurement strategies, and financial management to ensure the profitability of each project.





Essential Qualifications & Experience:





  • A relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying (e.g., BSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent).




  • Proven experience in the construction industry, ideally within a subcontractor environment.




  • Strong understanding of valuation processes, applications, and cost management.




  • Experience in estimating and project budgeting is a plus. Additionally if you have experience of Ensign Estimating software this would also be advantageous.




  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with project teams and clients.




  • A keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
