CSC Recruitment are working with a proven Main Contractor based in Kent who are seeking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor for a new build industrial project based in Hertfordshire.
The contractor has been established for the last 5 years and have increased their turnover to �20 million per annum due to the existing client relationships within industrial, education, health, commercial and hotel & leisure sectors. They cover projects from Kent up to the Midlands.
They are seeking a Quantity Surveyor who is able to work on a stand-alone basis. This is an excellent time to join this contractor as they are growing very steadily and want their team to grow with them.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost plans and estimates from inception through to project completion.
- Monitor and control project expenditure to ensure costs remain within budget.
- Conduct regular cost reviews and prepare detailed reports for senior management.
- Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to secure competitive pricing and quality services.
- Prepare and manage contract documents, including bill of quantities, schedules of works, and valuations.
- Administer contract changes and manage variations to ensure project objectives are met.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and manage any disputes or claims effectively.
- Conduct regular valuations of ongoing work, assess the value of completed work, and issue payment certificates.
- Evaluate and certify subcontractor and supplier payments.
- Identify potential financial risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Conduct risk assessments and prepare contingency plans to address any unforeseen issues.
- Maintain accurate records of all project costs, variations, and contractual changes.
- Prepare and present detailed cost reports, forecasts, and final accounts.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education:
- BSc Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field is required.
- Membership in a professional body such as RICS or CIOB is preferred.
Experience:
- Extensive experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the general construction.
- Proven track record of successfully managing healthcare, industrial, education or commercial projects up to �10m.
- In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal requirements.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in quantity surveying software and MS Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Superior communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
