Quantity Surveyor
to join us based on a long term data centre project in
Newport.

Job Purpose & Scope:
To manage commercial aspects of allocated projects. To liaise and collaborate with the construction and design teams in all aspects of contractual activities. Take ownership for maximising commercial results for allocated projects and to represent and meet client expectations and encourage repeat business.
Accountabilities & Key Tasks:
To ensure optimum commercial return is achieved for the project.
Prepare the cost / value reconciliation reports accurately.
Prepare and agree interim valuations at the agreed dates to gain the best commercial advantage for the company.
Prepare, and in conjunction with senior management agree final account with client's representative.
Agree final accounts with subcontractors to maximise project margins.
Ensure sub contract orders are prepared in accordance with company procedure with reference to the date given on the procurement schedules and / or in accordance with the contract programme having achieved the appropriate approvals.
Maintain control of sub contractor's accounts and minimise the cost of any variations.
Manage subcontracts in terms of valuation and correspondence.
Prepare turnover cash flow forecasts as directed by line manager at the commencement of all projects, updating as required and recording actual valuation achieved against forecast.
Prepare or assist with interim valuations and final accounts with client's representatives as directed by line manager.
Prepare and submit with each interim valuation a projected final account with client report.
Undertake as directed the evaluation and agreement of interim valuations and stage payments.
To ensure that project final accounts are progressed as the works proceed and agreed as soon as possible after week's completion under direction of line manager.
To support management in all delay type situations ensuring that relevant information is properly documented and contractual correspondence is sent at the correct times under the guidance of Line Manager.
Advise Line Manager of any potential problem situations and seek their advice and guidance where necessary.
Provide feedback to the project team and estimating department.
To have knowledge of relevant forms of contract and to assist in the resolution of contractual disputes, disagreements and potential issues.
About you:
Essential:
Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor in a main contractor with experience managing structural and internal fit out packages.
Strong commercial awareness.
Demonstrates strong attention to detail and produces accurate work.
Communicates information and ideas proactively and confidentially in a way which is received positively, both verbally and in writing. Shares knowledge with others.
Manages time effectively.
Desirable:
Degree or other technical qualification.
RICS / CIOB qualification.
