Job Title: Quantity Surveyor



Location: Midlands

Salary: �55,000 per annum

Start Date: Immediate start for the right candidate



Job Overview:



We are seeking a motivated and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a leading construction company working on a range of education sector projects in the Midlands. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-profile developments, including new builds, refurbishments, and extensions within the education space. The role requires a candidate with a solid understanding of construction cost management and the ability to ensure projects are delivered within budget and time constraints.



Key Responsibilities:




  • Manage all aspects of the commercial process, from pre-construction through to final account

  • Preparation and submission of interim valuations and final accounts

  • Ensure accurate cost reporting and forecasting, ensuring projects are kept within budget

  • Negotiate and procure subcontracts, ensuring compliance with contractual terms

  • Measure, value, submit and negotiate contract variations

  • Liaise with project teams to ensure effective communication and coordination

  • Conduct risk analysis and value management to optimize project value

  • Provide regular updates to senior management and key stakeholders

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, health and safety regulations, and company policies

  • Resolve any contractual disputes promptly and efficiently



Skills & Experience Required:




  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry, ideally with exposure to education projects

  • Knowledge of JCT/NEC contracts and construction law

  • Strong negotiation skills and commercial awareness

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills

  • Experience with cost management software and MS Office applications



Qualifications:




  • A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field

  • Membership of RICS or equivalent professional body (desirable but not essential)
