The Company
An award-winning and leading Modular Construction Contractor, committed to delivering high-quality projects across a variety of sectors including Healthcare, Education, Residential, Commercial, Industrial, Construction and the Ministry of Defence (MOD). Our client has been in the industry for over 50 years making them the longest standing and highest performing modular construction and portable building manufacturers in the UK. Due to increased work winning, our client is looking to expand its commercial team and appoint a Quantity Surveyor who can help the company spearhead its projects across all sectors throughout the country.
The Role:
As an accomplished Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible in managing the financial aspects of their projects from inception through to completion. You will ensure projects are delivered within budget, contribute to cost-saving strategies, and help maintain the high standards that define their business. With projects spanning multiple sectors, you will gain diverse experience and the ability to progress to Commercial Manager within the company.
Qualifications:
* Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field.
* Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word) and relevant construction software (e.g., COINS, Sage)
Responsibilities:
Manage all aspects of the project financials, including cost estimation, budgeting, and forecasting.
* Prepare tender documents, contract administration, and procurement schedules.
* Conduct cost analysis, identify risk areas, and implement cost-saving strategies.
* Liaise with clients, contractors, and suppliers to negotiate terms and ensure best value.
* Monitor and control project costs, including variations, valuations, and final accounts.
* Prepare regular financial reports and present cost findings to senior management.
* Work closely with project managers and the Commercial Manager to ensure project success.
* Ensure compliance with relevant contractual obligations and industry regulations.
* Actively contribute to business development initiatives by supporting the bid process and commercial strategies.
What They’re Looking For:
* Strong understanding of commercial management, contracts (JCT/NEC), and procurement processes.
* Excellent numerical, analytical, and negotiation skills.
* Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with a focus on meeting deadlines and staying within budget.
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
* A proactive and driven individual with the ambition to progress into a Commercial Manager role.
Permanent Position offering a competitive salary plus benefits package to the successful candidate (£55,000 - £60,000 + Package) and a clear career progression pathway up to Commercial Management.
