Up to £49,000 + Excellent Car Allowance

Permanent Full time (37 Hours)

Our client are a leading provider of integrated waste management, quarrying, and construction solutions, with a commitment to sustainability and innovation. Due to their continued growth, they are looking to add a Quarry Manager to the team, in Dorset.

Key Responsibilities – Quarry Manager

As the Quarry Manager, you will be responsible for producing the appropriate quantity and quality of product safely at the minimum cost, as dictated by the budget or other targets and ensure compliance with the Company’s Safety Policy, Quarries Regulations 1999 Act and the Health and Safety at Work Act.


  • To assist the Production Manager in the preparation of annual cost budgets.
  • To ensure that mobile and fixed plant is available for use during working hours by arranging speedy and economic repairs when required.
  • To ensure items of plant are cared for by regular service and maintenance.
  • Issuing orders to suppliers and keeping records of spending whilst achieving cost budgets.
  • To ensure compliance with all legislation, permissions and licences that relate to the Company’s site.
  • To take responsibility as required under the Quarries Regulations 1999 to ensure compliance with the Regulations for the above sites.
  • To submit to the Production Manager a monthly, written operations report and cost forecast.
  • To closely monitor each operation with a view to improving efficiency.
  • To lead, motivate and train the workforce and to achieve and maintain a high morale.

Qualifications & Experience – Quarry Manager


  • VQ Level 6 Diploma in Safety, Health and Environmental Management in Mineral Product Operations.
  • NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Plant Operations and competency qualification for operating quarry plant.
  • Previous history in a management position within the mineral products industry, preferably sand and gravel.
  • A good understanding of plant and machinery, including maintenance and planning.
  • Knowledge and experience of production processes, health and safety systems and cost/budget control.
  • Excellent understanding of the Quarries Regulations Act 1999 and ACOP.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage and organise the operational team.
  • Understanding of engineering and statutory responsibilities and familiarisation of all aspects of health, safety and environmental legislation.


  • Customer focused, ensuring service and quality standards are met and maintained whilst maximising operation performance.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to communicate with stakeholders at all levels of the business.
