Advisor Radiation Protection

We are now recruiting for the exciting role of Advisor Radiation Protection, to be involved in an industry leading, cutting-edge design project for a new type of power station.
As an Advisor within Radiation Protection, you will provide;

  • Support the evaluation of the radiation protection impact on the Rolls-Royce SMR power station and the integrated Environment, Safety, Security and Safeguards (E3S) Case specifically the demonstration of an ALARP position.
  • Direct support to the Engineering function to provide both an awareness of ALARP and a justification for protection against radiation hazards.

Key Selection Criteria
Criteria 1 - Technical Writing - A demonstrable ability to plan work and deliver radiation protection documentation to high standards and within deadlines, in accordance with UK regulatory requirements and international recommendations.
Criteria 2 - Interpersonal Skills - Good communication and interpersonal skills to be able to represent radiological protection function internally and externally e.g. delivery of radiation protection training, attending regulatory meetings, etc.
Criteria 3 - Safety Case - A good understanding of the development of safety cases coupled with a good understanding of the Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017, ACOP and Guidance. Including a wider knowledge of relevant good practice associated with nuclear safety.
Criteria 4 - Nuclear Knowledge - Experience of operational nuclear power plant knowledge with regards to normal operations and EMIT activities.
Criteria 5 - Stakeholder Engagement - Experience of engaging and interfacing with a broad range of internal stakeholders with regards to radiation protection requirements.
Pay and Benefits
We anticipate a paying salary of between �40,000 - �52,500, a performance related bonus of up to 12.5%, an attractive pension scheme with 12% employer and 6% employee contributions. You will also receive a flexible benefits allowance of �2,200, enabling you to create a bespoke package to suit your needs.

Our Application Process

  • Obtaining Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance
  • Satisfactory completion of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
