RF Systems EngineerCambridge£50,000 - £70,000Our client are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Systems Engineer to join our team specializing in the production of RF equipment. This role primarily involves project delivery, mechanical design, and new product introduction (NPI) activities. The successful candidate will work closely with the hardware, embedded software, production, System Test and product management teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery of cutting-edge RF products. Practical skills and experience with RF products are highly desirable.Key ResponsibilitiesProject Delivery:Drive technical aspects of RF equipment projects from concept to completion.Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure project milestones are met.Ensure project plans, timelines, and budgets are adhered to and met.Mechanical Design:Design and develop mechanical components and systems for RF equipment.Utilize CAD software to create detailed models and drawings to BS-8888 standards.(SOLIDWORKS)Collaborate with the hardware and embedded software teams to ensure mechanical designs meet functional requirements set by product management.Conduct feasibility studies and prototype testing to validate designs.Produce prototypes with rapid manufacturing and prototyping processes.New Product Introduction (NPI):Lead NPI activities for new RF products, ensuring smooth transition from development to production.Develop and implement NPI documentation for new products.Work with production teams to identify and resolve manufacturing issues.Ensure new products meet quality, cost, and delivery targets.Collaboration and Communication:Work closely with the hardware team to integrate mechanical and electrical designs.Collaborate with the embedded software team to ensure software and hardware compatibility.Coordinate with production teams to optimize manufacturing processes and improve product quality.Communicate effectively with all stakeholders to ensure alignment and resolve issues promptly.Practical Skills and RF Product Experience:Apply practical skills to assemble, test, and troubleshoot RF equipment.Utilize experience with RF products to guide design and development decisions.Stay updated with the latest advancements in RF and manufacturing technology and apply them to improve products.Qualifications and Skills:EducationBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.Master’s degree in a related field is a plus.ExperienceExperience in a systems engineering role, preferably within the RF equipment industry.Experience with RF hardware and software integration.Practical hands-on experience with RF testing and troubleshooting equipment.SkillsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Technical ProficiencyAbility to design for manufacture with hands on experience of prototyping equipment.Proficiency in CAD software for mechanical design (SolidWorks).Solid understanding of RF principles and experience working with RF products.Familiarity with industry standards and protocols (e.g., IEEE, ISO, MIL-STD, DEF-STAN).Knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality assurance practices.Personal AttributesExcellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while seamlessly interfacing with interdisciplinary teams.Physical Requirements:Ability to work in a lab and manufacturing environment.Occasional field application testing and demonstrating.Apply now to find out more!
