Job Description

This is a welcoming and inclusive primary school committed to providing high-quality early years education. Our Reception team is dedicated to nurturing young learners in a safe, engaging, and stimulating environment, where children can develop confidence, independence, and a love for learning. We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support their Reception class. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher to provide high-quality learning experiences, support children’s development, and create a positive and inclusive classroom environment. This role begins March 2025.

Duties as a Reception Year Teaching Assistant:

  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and creative lessons in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.
  • \n
  • Assist in the preparation of learning materials and classroom activities.
  • \n
  • Work with small groups or individual pupils to support learning and development.
  • \n
  • Help to monitor and assess children's progress, providing feedback to the teacher.
  • \n
  • Encourage children’s social and emotional development through positive interactions and play-based learning.
  • \n
  • Support children with personal care needs when necessary.
  • \n
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe, stimulating, and organised classroom environment.
  • \n
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and staff.
  • \n

Ideal Reception Year Teaching Assistant:

  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • \n
  • Experience working with young children, preferably in an early years or primary school setting.
  • \n
  • A strong understanding of child development and the EYFS curriculum.
  • \n
  • Patience, creativity, and a nurturing approach to working with children.
  • \n
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills as a Reception Year Teaching Assistant.
  • \n
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • \n
