Recovery Officer

We’re looking for a Recovery Officer to join our client’s team.
This role is responsible for collecting outstanding Council Tax, Business Rates, and Housing Benefit overpayments, ensuring legal compliance, and providing financial support to residents.

• \nHybrid working – mix of office-based in Oxford and remote work

• \nRates: £16.49 ph PAYE / £20.43 ph Umbrella

Your Role:

\n
• Collect outstanding Council Tax, Business Rates, and Housing Benefit overpayments.
\n
• \nNegotiate realistic repayment plans with customers facing financial difficulties.
\n
• Identify cases for legal enforcement or write-off where necessary.
\n
• Provide financial advice and refer residents to advice centres for additional support.
\n
• Monitor and update customer accounts, ensuring compliance with legislation.
\n
• Attend court hearings and represent the council in debt recovery cases.
\n
• Work collaboratively with internal departments and external agencies to maximise debt recovery.
\n

What We’re Looking For:

\n
• Experience in debt recovery, income collection, or financial administration.
\n
• Strong knowledge of Council Tax, Business Rates, and debt collection processes.
\n
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills to assist customers effectively.
\n
• Ability to interpret legislation and explain processes to non-specialists.
\n
• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and housing finance systems.
\n
