I d recommend it as a great place to work.' Dr Reshma Rajagopal, Riverside GP We're looking for a GP to join us at Riverside Medical Practice. GP workload at Riverside is carefully managed, with 21 x 15 minute predominantly F2F appointments a day and flexibility in terms of how these are organised to suit your preferences. Duty and home visit GP days are shared equally between GPs, with our specialist paramedic supporting home visit days and conducting a large proportion of visits. GPs have their own pre-bookable phone and F2F slots each day to provide continuity, with dedicated time each day for admin. Docman is efficiently managed, with our secretarial team sending only correspondence needing GP input on to our doctors. We're a busy surgery (list size 19,600) in an area with significant health inequality - so we're looking for GPs who are passionate about working in this type of environment and making a difference. It's clinically interesting work, with many different types of pathology. This is a unique Practice where same-day care is broadly managed by a neighbouring nurse-led local health board team giving GPs more time to provide care to more complex patients. Direct access (self-referral) musculoskeletal, community nursing and mental health services are also available. Our stable, 50-strong Practice team includes a number of WTE GPs which compares favourably to national averages. We also have six additional specialist clinicians three triage nurse practitioners, two chronic disease nurse specialists and a specialist paramedic as well as treatment room nursing and phlebotomy. Embedded staff include a substance use nurse; pharmacists; and Community Linkworkers, with care home residents being looked after by a dedicated local health board team. We have sound support in place for emergencies - with a specialist paramedic and other members of our large team always available. We have four supportive GP partners, a great call handling team and the other usual operational support staff. Feedback from our team is that we're a genuinely welcoming and well-organised Practice, with mature processes in place. We're located close to Edinburgh City Centre and East Lothian's fabulous beaches. The Practice is located in a purpose-built health centre with kitchen, sun terrace and ample parking. Sweet treats are always on hand and welcome boxes are provided to all new team members, with regular staff events and activities planned. An accredited training Practice, we have multiple experienced GP trainers in the team and both mentoring and clinical catch-ups with colleagues are always part of our week. CPD time is built into your week in line with the BMA Model Contract, and if you have special areas of interest there are opportunities to lead on relevant Practice quality improvement projects.
