Job Overview: A leading oil and gas exploration service company specialising in providing technical and commercial intelligence for the Energy industries seek a Sales Executive to support their ongoing growth plans. Working alongside an experienced Business Development Manager, you will identify and develop relationships with new clients across Europe and Africa and help to generate and drive the Company’s business opportunities. The Company is open to all levels of experience and industry backgrounds – ambition and drive are the key! A background in an earth science subject or previous sales experience preferred. The Company is based in Northwest England, and the role is based in the UK with a preference for living in the Northwest, London or Aberdeenshire.
Working for a small friendly and dynamic team, you will be supported and mentored, quickly build your knowledge base of companies and players in this growing sector, have the opportunity to travel internationally, and to develop your commercial skills with the potential to advance to senior positions.
For almost 2 decades, the Company has provided technical and commercial intelligence for the oil and gas industry and in recent years the wider Energy markets such as renewables and hydrogen. They provide exploration and New Energy teams with timely, insightful, and visually compelling Exploration & Production news and insights, enabling them to monitor oil, gas, hydrogen, and Energy Transition developments effectively.
Their products and services encompass subsurface context, renewables, hydrogen, as well as New Ventures and Business Development opportunities, trends, and the farm-out market. Service companies and strategic managers rely on their Reports and GIS platforms, to identify emerging trends and to guide future successful exploration.
Responsibilities: Reporting to the Global Business Development Manager your primary responsibilities will be to:
· Become knowledgeable in the Company’s products and services – full training provided in terms of data, contacts, and industry intelligence.
· Play a pivotal role in the complete sales cycle for a range of technical business intelligence products spanning oil, gas, hydrogen, and new energy.
· Identify and build your contacts and relationships with key people involved in exploration.
· Cultivate a robust sales pipeline, and generate qualified leads and sales.
· Build your network of companies and contacts across the energy sector to support a long-term sales and marketing strategy.
· Be highly organized and methodical in managing your sales process – maintaining action items and deadlines
· Be highly pro-active in developing your understanding of the sector – attend events and conferences as required.
· Expect international travel as part of your role.
· Maintain the customer CRM database and utilise CRM tools to drive the sales process
· Initial focus will be Europe and Africa, with future exposure to global markets
· Share market information with peers and ensure all stakeholders are updated as required.
· Be proactive in raising the awareness and reputation of the Company’s products and services.
This is an exciting role for an individual with a passion for sales. Strong networking and lead generation abilities are key. Candidates with a geoscience background or/and experience selling geophysical or/and geological products, data or services highly desired.
Preferences: The successful candidate will have:
· An academic background in a geoscience discipline (geology, geophysics) desired but not essential.
· Previous experience in selling data, products or services desired but not essential.
· Market research skills to identify potential clints in oil, gas, hydrogen and new energy advantageous.
· Technical sales across any sector highly desired – must have the ability to grasp and relay technical content (training provided).
· Ambition, passion and a desire to pursue a highly successful commercial role essential.
· A diligent, motivated individual with the energy and determination to excel in a highly competitive energy sector market.
· Confidence essential - must have the ability to engage with senior executives within organizations and to deliver compelling sales pitches - full training provided.
· An assertive individual with the personality and confidence to build strong relationships and engage with senior level personnel across various Energy sectors.
· Highly pro-active essential – following training, can work independently, driving sales interest.
· Previous experience in a large industrial sector such as energy, oil, and gas advantageous, as is familiarity with technical sales.
· Strong organizational skills essential
· Excellent communication skills – can engage at all levels.
· Entrepreneurial approach – can leverage strengths and react and lead in dynamic market conditions.
· Highly methodical - ability to multi-task, prioritise, with attention to detail but constantly paying attention to growth targets.
· Can travel as required.
Package: Dependent on the level of experience, a Base Salary of £37K - £42K plus a Bonus Scheme of circa 7%-12% is on offer. There is some flexibility on Base Salary for high calibre candidates with similar sales experience in oil and gas.
