Sampling Hygiene Technician

Purpose of the job

� A hands-on role to sample, test, document and report on the hygienic performance of the Costa Express machine fleet out in field and within Laboratory conditions:

� Conducting Microbiological sampling and tests on existing Coffee dispensing equipment out in UK markets to ensure they meet the highest standards for the coffee industry - legal hygiene compliance.

� Supporting methodologies and procedures to evaluate for Food hygiene aspects, document and qualify technologies in each of our equipment categories as required (e.g field trials)

� Planning sample plans and routes with Technical Manager to drive efficiencies through test locations whilst meeting sample plan criteria for 2025.

� Main stakeholders include:

� External:

� Costa Coffee Express Markets UK and Coca-Cola Bottlers

� Internal: Global Technical, UK Operations, Product Development teams (Costa X)

Main Key Tasks & Activities

� Specifics, With Whom/ What Over what time scale?

� Conducting agreed Microbiological sampling and testing protocols on Costa Express concessions at specified UK locations.

� Collating samples to send to third party laboratories for analysis as required.

� Following aseptic and hygienic practices at all times when performing testing and sampling

� Documenting test plans and protocols

� Documenting machine behaviour and reporting on performance when applicabl

What's the end result?

� Ensuring required legal sampling plans are adhered to and completed.

� Reports clearly and concisely that the test & sampling plans have been conducted.

� Reports any issues in a timely manner.

� Improved product quality and reliability overall for Costa Express machines

What Key Performance Indicators will be measured to evaluate success?

� Relevant, accurate test and sampling methods and results captured.

� All sample plan protocols completed to plan and on time.

� Implementation of changes applied in the field

� Knowledge- Essential & Desirable (Expert understanding)

Essentials

� Experience in a Food or University QC testing laboratory or food production environment

� Laboratory testing - ideally Microbiological

� Skills- Essential & Desirable (Expert ability)

� Educated to A-Level standard in science related subject or proven experience in a Food production or QC Laboratory testing environment.

� Manufacturing or food retail experience

� Food safety training e.g Level 2 minimum food hygiene certificate
