Main purposes of job:
  1. Transportation and maintenance management
  2. Stock control -
  3. Management of the local team
  4. Operations planning
  5. Supporting sales with logistics planning
  6. Supporting other depot teams when required
  7. Liaising with the terminal management and operational team
  8. Validating and authorising time sheets
  9. UK - Driving & Working time regulations.
  10. Vehicle inspections
  11. H&S of team, to include safety talks and training.
  12. Liaise with Training instructor to plan/organise driver training.
  13. Working hours are 8am to 5pm with any additionally required overtime being absorbed as part of the managers role. Overtime at the weekend will be paid for on an ad hoc basis depending on company requirements and is at the line managers discretion. Permissible overtime activities are:
  • Quarterlies on vehicles.
  • Ship Tanker Deliveries.
  • Emergency call out, breakdown, spill, accident.
  • Logistics planning when cover is unavailable.
  1. Forecast fuel requirements and organise ship tankers
  2. Financial Management of Depot Costs
  3. Leadership - Handling conflicts within the team and resolving them in a constructive manner.
  4. Team Meetings / Tool box Talks / Safety Meetings to be carried out as required. Ensuring clear and effective exchange of information within the team.

Key tasks
  1. Manage & support an effective operational process, which ensures integrity of customer / Company's requirements.
  2. Manage commercial aspects of a transport operation to meet profit and service/quality targets.
  3. Uphold and maintain highest standards of Health & Safety
  4. Allocating and managing staff resources according to changing needs with the ability to provide adequate cover at a planning level.
  5. Ensure effective and efficient use of driver and vehicle resources.
  6. Ensuring customer requirements are administered in a timely, controlled and recorded manner.
  7. Build and develop customer relationships.
  8. Analysing data to monitor performance and plan improvements.
  9. Operational responsibility for the Scapa Terminal.
  10. Customer Service, ensuring that customer orders are fulfilled accurately and on time
  11. Preparing and presenting reports on depot performance, incident investigations

Key results/objectives
  1. Promote effective and efficient standards of work, in order to comply with transport legislation, company policy and Health & Safety legislation.
  2. Uphold highest standards of H&S, ensure all inductions and regular training is completed and logged.
  3. Be proactive in achieving improved fuel efficiency and better MPG.
  4. Contribute to a positive safety culture.
  5. Support the personal development of all people employed at the Depot.
  6. Create an effective working environment building a diverse, well- balanced team.
  7. Ensuring Accountability, holding themselves and their team accountable for their actions and result

Responsible for staff/equipment
Scapa depot employed operational staff and Vehicles.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Implement and manage technology solutions to streamline operations. Managing stock, ensuring that stock levels are maintained and that goods are received, stored, and dispatched efficiently.
