School Caretaker

Salary: �25,000 per annum

Location: Exeter, Devon

Contract Type: Permanent

We are looking for an experienced Caretaker to ensure buildings and facilities are well maintained, secure, fully functional and Health & Safety compliant.

You will be joining a Facilities Management team based at schools in Exeter. �

Your responsibilities will include performing routine maintenance, managing repairs, ensuring security protocols are followed and keeping the premises clean and orderly.

Applicants need to be proactive, detail-oriented, and have excellent problem-solving skills.

• Ensure security integrity of the school buildings and grounds through locking and unlocking, patrols, monitoring.


• Carry out defined Planned Preventative Maintenance responsibilities in accordance with each school's schedule and individual's skills.


• Where appropriate provide access, escort, liaise with and assist service providers on site to undertake remedial work or Planned Prevented Maintenance.


• Carry out minor repairs and decoration works.


• Respond to emergency situations such as floods, bodily fluids and effecting temporary or permanent rectification in accordance with prescribed procedures and timescales.


• Checks of boilers, hot water functioning, pest inspections, drains, gullies for blockages and plant rooms.


• Carry out day-to -day duties such as littler picking, bin emptying, sweeping, refreshing toilets.

Key Requirements:

• Range of general handyman skills such as general DIY skills, minor plumbing, carpentry and electrical


• Good customer service skills


• Amenable and approachable personality


• Ability to liaise with and assist external service providers


• Ability to work in a team
