About the Role:

Equitas is assisting our client in the search for an inspiring and dedicated Science Teacher to join their team. The successful candidate will have a passion for science and a commitment to delivering engaging and innovative lessons to students across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the opportunity to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a supportive and dynamic department, in a school that values academic excellence and holistic student development.



Key Responsibilities:





  • Teaching and Learning:




    • Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality science lessons that cater to a diverse range of learning styles and abilities.

    • Use varied teaching methods to engage students and encourage a positive attitude toward science.

    • Prepare students for external assessments, ensuring all learners have the support needed to achieve their potential.




  • Curriculum Development:




    • Collaborate with the science department to develop and refine the science curriculum, aligning with national standards.

    • Implement innovative teaching strategies and use practical demonstrations to deepen students’ understanding.

    • Stay updated with scientific advancements and integrate current topics into the curriculum where appropriate.




  • Pastoral Support:




    • Act as a form tutor, providing pastoral support and contributing to the broader life of the school.

    • Monitor student progress and provide guidance, helping to create a positive and safe learning environment.




  • Professional Development:




    • Engage in ongoing professional development and actively contribute to departmental meetings and training sessions.

    • Participate in performance management and seek opportunities to enhance personal teaching practice.





Key Requirements:




  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification.

  • A degree in science or a related field.

  • Experience teaching science across Key Stages 3 and 4, with Key Stage 5 experience an advantage.

  • Strong subject knowledge, passion for science, and the ability to bring concepts to life.

  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
