Join us as an SDET Lead

  • This key, back-end focussed role will see you helping to define and implement the testing strategy, principles, and practices across our products
  • You'll work alongside customer focussed agile squads and collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to define the next iteration of NatWest Boxed
  • It’s an opportunity to work with technology leadership to drive the direction of our testing chapter to ensure it maintains the highest standard of technology and process

What you'll do

We’ll look to you to lead the design of our automation test strategies, making sure they’re aligned to our goals. You’ll have the opportunity to lead our SDET chapter and collaborate with software engineers from all specialisms to define and evolve more predictive and intelligent testing approaches, based on automation and innovative testing products and solutions.

You’ll also be:

  • Developing clean, elegant, and reusable code that is easy to maintain and extend
  • Providing technical mentoring and oversight for other engineers in the team
  • Building scalable automated testing systems that enables us to deliver value to customers at pace
  • Assisting other engineers to test their software and acting as an expert point of contact

The skills you'll need

We’re looking for someone with excellent programming skills in a modern programming language. You’ll have hands on experience with Java, back-end test automation frameworks and integrating these into the continuous deployment pipeline.

On top of this, you’ll bring:

  • Knowledge of software performance and automated security testing techniques and tooling
  • An excellent understanding of various test methodologies, alongside the use of automated test frameworks, mocking, stubbing, and testing tools
  • Experience leading quality engineers, defining and achieving shared goals
  • Experience of delivering and testing distributed microservices as part of an agile team
