Tradewind Recruitment is currently recruiting for a committed and empathetic SEND Learning Support Assistant (LSA) for a secondary school in Macclesfield. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated individual who has experience working in schools or education and is passionate about providing support to students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

About the Role:

As a SEND Learning Support Assistant, you will be an integral part of the school's support team, providing tailored support to students with a variety of SEND, helping them access the curriculum and develop academically and socially. You will work closely with both the classroom teachers and the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator) to ensure the specific needs of students are met effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and small group support for students with SEND.
  • Assist with the creation and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Support students with a wide range of learning needs, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and physical disabilities.
  • Promote inclusion and create a positive, encouraging learning environment.
  • Work with teaching staff to adapt resources and activities to support the needs of SEND students.
  • Assist with the monitoring of students' progress and well-being.
  • Support students during both academic lessons and extracurricular activities.

Requirements:

To be considered for this role, applicants must have:

  • Previous experience working in a school or educational setting, ideally supporting students with SEND.
  • A clear understanding of various SEND needs and strategies for supporting students.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • A patient, adaptable, and nurturing approach to supporting students.
  • A commitment to supporting students in overcoming barriers to learning.
  • An enhanced DBS check (or be willing to apply for one).
