About the Role


We are seeking an experienced Section Engineer to join our Highways Structures Team on the highways improvement project based in Gloucester. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to take a leading role in a major infrastructure project, ensuring that a specific section of the highway structures is delivered to the highest standards.
This position is operating Inside IR35, with an initial contract period of 6-12 months, with the possibility of extension based on project requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Section Management: Lead and oversee a designated section of the project, ensuring that all works are carried out in line with the project specifications, budget, and timeline.
  • Supervision: Manage and coordinate site engineers and subcontractors, ensuring that work is executed safely and efficiently.
  • Technical Assurance: Ensure the quality of work meets the required standards by conducting regular inspections and audits. Provide technical guidance and support to the team as needed.
  • Programme Management: Monitor progress against the project programme, identifying and addressing any issues that may affect delivery.
  • Liaison: Act as the main point of contact for your section, liaising with the project manager, client representatives, and other stakeholders to ensure clear communication and effective collaboration.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of site activities, including daily reports, quality control documentation, and progress updates.
  • Health & Safety: Promote and enforce health and safety standards across your section, ensuring that all site activities comply with statutory and project-specific requirements.
Key Requirements
  • Experience: Significant experience as a Section Engineer on highways or large infrastructure projects, with a strong background in managing structural works.
  • Qualifications: Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. Professional qualifications (e.g., MICE) are desirable.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to manage and lead a team, with excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of construction methodologies, engineering principles, and industry standards.
  • Compliance: Familiarity with IR35 regulations and the implications for contracting roles.
