Section Engineering Director, Energy Storage Mint Selection is partnered with one of the UK s leading Independent Power Producers who build, own and operate one of Europe s largest grid flexibility and energy storage portfolios. Reporting to the Group Engineering Director, the Section Engineering Director will perform a dual role both as the second-in-command driving quality, value and on-time delivery across the Engineering Department, as well as taking hands-on responsibility for ensuring delivery of a portfolio of flexible generation projects (Battery Energy Storage Systems, gas peaking, and hydrogen electrolysis). Working with a dynamic team, this role will play a key role in building cutting-edge grid scale generation plants. Key Role Responsibilities: Provide engineering direction across a portfolio of flexible generation projects: Ensure engineering team deliver on time, on budget and to a high level of quality Ensure engineering team have the correct tools and training to deliver the projects Ensure resourcing is sufficient to allow successful project delivery Provide interface with project management, commercial, development and other departments across portfolio Co-ordinate design decisions across projects to ensure consistency and transfer of knowledge between projects Provide input to the Pre-FID design and budgeting process of a portfolio of projects Technical expert for prime movers Lead technical decision making on selection of prime movers for a portfolio of flexible generation plants Provide guidance to PM and commercial team on commercial selection of prime movers Quality Assist in the development and implementation of quality and safety standards across the engineering department Ensure quality in design and on site across a portfolio of projects Engineering Management Subject to resourcing and experience, act as engineering manager on one of the portfolio of projects Desired Skills & Experience: 10+ years career experience within a construction and design environment for gas peaking plants and BESS Knowledge of gas peaking and/or BESS plant construction Understanding of plant design and construction Understanding of industry standard contracts and project management methods as they pertain to engineering Experience in the commercial and technical evaluation of prime mover plant Track record of delivering commercially viable projects Understanding of the commercial and project management drivers and how they impact engineering Strong written and verbal communication, with high attention to detail Management and leadership experience within an engineering function, and capable of building close relationships with both office-based and site-based teams MEng in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Process or Electrical Engineering or equivalent Chartered Engineer status or equivalent This is a London-based position, requiring 4 days a week in the office or on project site.
