Salary: £75 - £110 per day

Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? GSL Education  are looking for a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant (Secondary) to join an inclusive and supportive school in Newcastle.

Responsibilities:

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant (Secondary), your role will include:


  • Supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs in their learning and development.
  • Working closely with teachers and staff to create a positive learning environment.
  • Helping students to regulate their emotions and manage behaviour.
  • Encouraging students to build confidence, independence, and social skills.
  • Supporting classroom activities and engaging students in their learning.
  • Assisting with personalised learning plans tailored to individual needs.

Requirements:

To be successful as an SEMH Teaching Assistant (Secondary), you should have:


  • Experience working with young people, ideally in an SEMH setting.
  • Patience, resilience, and excellent communication skills.
  • A commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of students.
  • A strong understanding of social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs and the challenges students face.
  • A relevant qualification in education or experience in a similar role.
  • A valid Enhanced DBS registered on the update service (or be willing to obtain one).

Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including an enhanced DBS on the update service.
