An SEN School in Caterham is seeking an enthusiastic English Teacher to join their dedicated team. This role involves delivering outstanding educational experiences to students aged 11 - 16 who face communication and social interaction challenges, often associated with Autism.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver and develop a curriculum that meets the educational, physical, and social needs of students.
• Collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
• Create and implement lesson plans that cater to short, medium, and long-term educational goals.
• Set, monitor, and review personalised learning targets.
• Assess, review, and communicate student progress to parents, team members, senior staff, and relevant bodies.
• Participate in the review of Statements, EHC plans, PEP, and LAC reviews.
• Structure lessons to ensure pace, motivation, and challenge.
• Stay updated on autism-related issues to plan effective teaching strategies.
• Address individual student needs with a non-confrontational approach.

Requirements:

• PGCE, QTS, or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Ability to teach English up to GCSE level.
• Experience working with pupils with ASD, SEMH, and PDA profiles.
• Strong understanding of Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
• Experience in managing a range of behavioural approaches, including challenging behaviours.
