SEND Teacher - Hackney

We are looking to appoint several outstanding, self-motivated Class Teachers to work in the secondary department in this SEN school. This is a unique opportunity for a suitable candidate to progress their career by joining a talented, hardworking, and friendly team involved in developing first class provision for pupils with autism and severe learning difficulties. The school is Key Stage 4 and post 16 and is based in Hackney.
Some of the key qualities we are looking for are:
* Experienced and energetic practitioner with the knowledge, skills and understanding of a range of teaching, learning, assessment, and positive behaviour management strategies to make a positive impact on the progress of pupils with autism who have learning difficulties.
* Highly motivated, innovative person with enthusiasm and commitment
* Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
* Be supported by a wider team of professionals to ensure our pupils thrive, have fun and maximise their potential.
Requirements:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognized overseas teaching certificate
* Experience working with students with SEND within a mainstream or Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) setting is desirable, however ECTs are welcomed to apply.
* An understanding, patient and caring approach
* Flexible and hard-working nature
* Excellent communication skills
* Existing DBS check on the update service
* Experience of augmentative and alternative communication (PECS, Makaton, Intensive Interaction, Rapid Prompting Method) are beneficial, but not essential.
