Prospero Teaching is currently seeking an experienced and dedicated SEN Teacher to join an outstanding Special Educational Needs school in Lichfield. This inclusive school is passionate about providing a safe, supportive, and stimulating learning environment for students with a wide range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Physical Disabilities (PD).

The Role:
As an SEN Teacher, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality education tailored to meet the individual needs of each student. You will work alongside a team of skilled support staff, therapists, and educational psychologists to create a nurturing and inclusive environment. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging lessons that are differentiated to cater to students' unique learning styles and needs.
  • Creating and implementing individual education plans (IEPs) to ensure all students progress both academically and personally.
  • Using a range of teaching strategies and approaches to engage students, including those with complex and challenging behaviors.
  • Working closely with support staff to manage the classroom effectively and maintain a positive and structured learning environment.
  • Building strong relationships with parents, carers, and external professionals to support students' holistic development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach and inspire students with SEN, helping them to achieve their full potential.
  • Assess, track, and report on students' progress and adapt teaching methods as necessary.
  • Foster a safe and supportive atmosphere, ensuring all students are engaged and included in classroom activities.
  • Attend meetings, contribute to multi-agency reviews, and collaborate with the wider school team to implement effective learning strategies.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with experience in an SEN setting.
  • A strong understanding of a variety of special educational needs, including Autism, PMLD, and SLD.
  • Experience of working with non-verbal students and implementing communication systems like PECS or Makaton.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with students, staff, and parents in a positive and professional manner.
  • Patience, resilience, and a passion for supporting young people with additional needs.
