Salary Range: £31,350 - £46,179 annually (M1 - UPS2 Fringe) + £5,000 Welcome Bonus for Qualified Teachers*

Hours: 40 hours per week

Start Date: 01/10/24

We are supporting a popular school for SEMH students in finding dedicated and qualified Teachers to join their team in Caterham. The role involves delivering exceptional teaching and learning experiences to students aged 11-16 with communication and social interaction challenges, primarily associated with Autism.

This school is part of a larger group of schools, sharing leadership but maintaining distinct teams at each site. Each site has its own Assistant Head, teachers, and teaching assistants, supported by a full therapy team. Collaboration and movement between sites are encouraged for both students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be accountable to the school leadership teams, performing various duties including, but not limited to:

  • Contributing to curriculum delivery and development tailored to students' educational, physical, and social needs.
  • Collaborating effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Utilising short, medium, and long-term plans for curriculum delivery.
  • Setting, monitoring, and reviewing personalised learning targets.
  • Monitoring, assessing, and reporting on student progress to stakeholders.
  • Developing lesson plans and self-reflecting on outcomes.
  • Participating in reviews of Statements, EHC plans, PEP, and LAC reviews.
  • Structuring lessons to maintain engagement, motivation, and challenge.
  • Staying informed on current autism-related issues to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Working non-confrontationally to meet individual student needs.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • PGCE, QTS, or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Ability to teach up to GCSE level.
  • Relevant experience and knowledge of working with pupils with ASD, SEMH, and PDA.
  • Understanding of Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
  • Experience managing a variety of behavioural approaches, including challenging behaviours.
