About the School:
Passionate Teachers required to work in Partnership with Simply Education who are supporting a wonderful Autism school in Chester. The school are looking for passionate Teachers who have prior SEND experience to join their team in September on a full-time basis. The school has recently acquired a new property meaning they can now accept more pupil referrals for January.
As a teacher you will work alongside students and staff to ensure the child's emotional and academic needs are met. Students all have an EHC Plan in place and have a main diagnosis of Autism, however many students have other additional needs as well. Additionally, you will have the support of our fantastic teaching assistant to help you to facilitate bespoke learning opportunities.
The school itself is a Grade II* listed buildings dating back to 1754. The school has kept many of the buildings originally features, providing their students with a learning environment that they can be proud of. Students are aged between 4 - 19 years and have the opportunity to access vocational study options as well as developing their life skills through trips and workshops and work experience. Additionally, the school is residential, so students stay on site.
Key Responsibilities:
- to deliver high-quality bespoke learning opportunities that focus on the students' interests and vocational studies, as well as functional skills in English and Maths.
- Support the students to become re-engaged with their learning.
- Model and promote high behaviour expectations.
- Communicate effectively and build rapport and common interests with the students to inspire and motivate them.
- To prepare the students for life beyond school.
Key Requirements:
- An understanding of working with students who have Autism.
- QTS Status
- Knowledge and understanding of vocational education.
- Strong communication skills.
- Resilience and the ability to model and promote high behaviour expectations.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students.
- Willingness to learn new skills and techniques.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Driving license and access to own transport is desirable.
