We are looking for a proactive, committed, and caring SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at a school in East Ham.

About the role

The ideal applicant will be passionate about working with young people, aware of the difficulties experienced by children with special education needs, and dedicated to offering excellent support in a supportive and inclusive setting. This position is ideal for someone who is eager, understanding, and prepared to positively influence the lives of children with a variety of learning difficulties.

Key responsibilities:


  • Support the learning, social, and emotional growth of students with special education needs one-on-one and in small groups.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers to alter and adapt the curriculum to each student's unique needs.
  • Encourage children who struggle emotionally, physically, or sensory-wise to participate fully in class activities and school life.
  • Help in the implementation of support plans and interventions for SEN students.
  • Encourage good conduct and social skills while making sure that kids are given the tools they need to become self-sufficient learners

This is a full-time position. Monday - Friday. 08:30 - 16;00

Requirements

To be considered for the role of SEN Teaching Assistant - East Ham you will:


  • Previous experience working with children, ideally within an SEN setting
  • A good understanding of a range of SEN, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other learning difficulties
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well within a team

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:


  • Relevant qualification in childcare or special educational needs (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, or equivalent)
