SEN Teaching Assistant

Job Overview:

Tradewind are looking for a passionate Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant and inclusive school community in Hackney. This role is ideal for individuals who are committed to making a positive impact on the lives of students with special educational needs. The position starts in September 2024.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide tailored support and assistance to students with special educational needs.
• Collaborate with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and other staff to implement individualised education plans (IEPs).
• Assist in the preparation and adaptation of teaching materials to meet the specific needs of SEN students.
• Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
• Monitor and report on the progress and development of students.
• Help with personal care tasks, where necessary.
• Support students during classroom activities, ensuring their safety and engagement.
• Participate in staff meetings and contribute to the development of SEN strategies within the school.

Requirements:

• Experience working with children with special educational needs is highly desirable.
• A relevant qualification in education or childcare is preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children's development.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students.
