Are you passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of students with special educational needs? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join a dynamic team at a secondary school in Barking, London.

Role Overview:

As a SEN TA, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and other learning challenges. Working closely with their experienced SEN team, you will provide tailored assistance to help students achieve their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally.

Responsibilities:

· Provide one-on-one support to students with special educational needs, including ASD, ADHD, and other additional needs.

· Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) to meet the specific needs of each student.

· Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and empowered to succeed.

· Collaborate with classroom teachers and SENCO to differentiate instruction and modify learning activities to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.

· Supervise and facilitate small group sessions as directed, ensuring that each student receives personalised attention and support.

· Maintain accurate records of student progress, behaviour, and achievements, and communicate effectively with parents, teachers, and other relevant stakeholders.

Requirements:

· Previous experience working with students with special educational needs, preferably in a school setting.

· A genuine passion for supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of students with diverse learning needs.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.

· Patience, empathy, and resilience in dealing with challenging behaviours and situations.

· Relevant qualifications or training in special education, autism awareness, or related fields (desirable but not essential).

Please Note:

While there may be occasions where you will be required to lead small group sessions, it is important to clarify that this role primarily focuses on providing individual support to students with special educational needs.
